How it works
Four steps, and no waiting in between

How the Booking Form Works

You book the slot yourself and you have it straight away. Nothing is taken from you at any point in this, and you can move the lesson later if you need to.

1

Answer three questions

Manual or automatic, your postcode, and where you heard about us. It takes about thirty seconds.

2

See what is actually free

The form shows you the slots available for your area straight away. No sending an enquiry and waiting for somebody to reply.

3

Pick a slot and fill in your details

Your name, address, email and your driving licence number. Have the licence in front of you and it is quick.

4

That is it, booked

The slot is yours from that moment. We will be in touch to welcome you and confirm exactly where you want picking up from.

What Happens on the Day

Worth knowing before it comes round, particularly if this is your first time behind a wheel. Nothing about it is designed to catch you out.

  • AWe come to youYour instructor arrives at the address you gave, whether that is home, work or college. There is no meeting point to get yourself to and no lesson time spent travelling to one.
  • BThe first ten minutesA licence check, then seat, mirrors and controls before the car moves anywhere. Slower than you are expecting, deliberately.
  • CYou do most of the drivingComplete beginners start on quiet residential streets, not in traffic. You will drive for most of the two hours, at whatever pace you are comfortable with.
  • DYou finish knowing where you areWhat went well, what to work on next, and an honest view of roughly how many hours you are likely to need. No sales pitch attached to it.

What to bring on the day

Short list. Everything else is ours.

  • Your provisional or full driving licence, which your instructor will check
  • Glasses or contact lenses if you need them to read a number plate at twenty metres
  • Comfortable shoes with a thin sole. Heavy boots make the pedals harder to feel
  • The car, the insurance and the dual controls are ours, so nothing else is needed
  • You do not need to have passed your theory test to start practical lessons

The practical bit

Paying, and Changing Your Mind

No money changes hands when you book online. Here is what happens after that, and what the position is if something comes up.

Paying for lessons

Cash or bank transfer
  • Nothing is taken when you book online
  • Cash on the day is fine, including for your first lesson
  • By bank transfer, please let it clear at least 24 hours before the lesson
  • Prepaid blocks are paid before the block starts and cost less per hour
  • A block you have paid for holds its price for the whole block

Moving or cancelling

48 hours notice
  • Move or cancel a lesson free of charge with at least 48 hours notice
  • Just call or message us, there is no form and no penalty
  • We try to be flexible when something genuinely unavoidable happens
  • Not started a prepaid block yet? It can usually be refunded, less a small admin fee
  • Less than 48 hours notice may be charged, because that slot cannot be filled
Not sure which rate applies to you? The full price list, including NHS, student and out of area rates, is on the prices page. If your postcode sits on the edge of our Oxford area, call 01865 763458 before you book and we will tell you which rate you are on, rather than you finding out afterwards.

At a glance You can book driving lessons with Oxon Driving Tuitions online through the form on this page, or by calling 01865 763458. No payment is taken when you book online and nothing is charged until your first lesson. The form first asks whether you want manual or automatic, your postcode, and where you heard about us. It then shows you the slots that are available, and once you pick one you enter your name, address, email address and driving licence number to confirm it. The slot is yours immediately. Manual and automatic lessons cost the same, and the full price list including NHS, student, intensive and out of area rates is on the prices page. Lessons are two hours as standard and run Monday to Friday from 7am to 9pm and Saturday from 9am to 6pm. We pick up from home, work or college across Oxford, including Cowley, Headington, Summertown, Marston, Botley, Iffley, Jericho, Littlemore, Blackbird Leys and Kidlington, with an out of area rate for Wheatley, Abingdon and Bicester. A female instructor is available on request.
Booking questions
Frequently asked questions

Booking a Lesson: Your Questions Answered

Do I have to pay when I book online?
No. Booking online does not take any payment and does not commit you to anything. Nothing is charged until your first lesson, and you can pay by cash on the day or by bank transfer beforehand.
Do I get my slot straight away, or do you confirm it later?
Straight away. The form shows you the slots that are genuinely free and the one you pick is yours from the moment you finish. You are not sending an enquiry and waiting for somebody to come back to you. We will still be in touch afterwards to welcome you and agree exactly where you want picking up from.
Do I need my driving licence number to book?
Yes, at the last step. The first part of the form only asks whether you want manual or automatic, your postcode and where you heard about us. Once you have picked a slot you will be asked for your name, address, email and your driving licence number, so have the licence itself in front of you.
What do I need for my first lesson?
Your provisional or full driving licence, which your instructor will check, and glasses or contact lenses if you need them to read a number plate at twenty metres. Comfortable shoes with a thin sole help, because heavy boots make the pedals harder to feel. Everything else, including the car, the insurance and the dual controls, is ours.
Can I change or cancel a lesson after booking?
Yes. You can move or cancel a lesson free of charge as long as you give us at least 48 hours notice, and there is no form to fill in, just call or message us. Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours notice may be charged, because your instructor has already blocked that time out and cannot fill it. We do try to be flexible when something genuinely unavoidable comes up.
Do I need to have passed my theory test first?
No. You can start practical lessons as soon as you have your provisional licence. Most learners book their theory test partway through their lessons, once they have built up some experience on the road.
Where will you pick me up from?
From home, work or college, anywhere in our Oxford coverage area. There is no meeting point to get yourself to. The postcode you put into the form sets which slots you are shown, and we will confirm the exact pick up point with you after you have booked.
Can I request a female instructor?
Yes. A female instructor is available on request. Call 01865 763458 before you book, or tell us when we get in touch to welcome you, and we will arrange it.
What if I am not sure whether I want manual or automatic?
The form asks you to choose one before it can show you slots, so pick whichever you are leaning towards. They cost exactly the same, so there is no financial decision to get wrong, and your instructor will help you settle it once you have felt the controls. Plenty of people start in one and move to the other.

Would Rather Just Talk to Someone?

The form is quickest, but plenty of people prefer to ask a few questions first. Call and we will tell you honestly what you need, including if it is not what you thought.
