Meet Sam, Oxon Driving Tuitions Founder

Hi, I'm Samir Sibachir, but everyone calls me Sam. I founded Oxon Driving Tuitions in 2018 after a long career in a very different field.

I originally trained in IT, graduating from the Institut National d'Informatique in Algiers in 1992. From there I spent 18 years working as a programmer and web designer, building software and websites for a living. I loved the work, but after nearly two decades of staring at screens, I developed severe dry eye and daily eye pain. My doctor told me I needed to cut my screen time dramatically.

That was the moment I decided to change direction. Rather than find another desk job, I thought about what I actually enjoy, teaching, cars, and working with people. Becoming a driving instructor pulled all of those together, so I trained up, got DVSA approved, and launched Oxon Driving Tuitions.

How my background shapes my teaching

The IT career was not wasted. I still use it every day. From programming I learned how to break complex problems into smaller steps, which is exactly how I teach driving. Manoeuvres, junctions, roundabouts, all of them are easier when you understand the logic behind them, not just the actions.

I use diagrams, visual references, and clear structured frameworks to explain things that other instructors might just tell you to memorise. If you are a visual learner, or if you have struggled with instructors who just said "do it again", you will probably find my approach clicks.
