Automatic Driving Lessons in Bicester, Oxfordshire
Bicester is eleven miles from Oxford, and your test will be in Oxford. So we do this differently here. We pick you up in Bicester, or you meet us in Oxford if that suits you better, and most of your driving happens on the roads the examiner actually uses. Two hour lessons as standard, automatic or manual, across OX26 and the villages.

Your Test Is In Oxford, So We Are Straight About It
There is no driving test centre in Bicester. Oxfordshire has two, Oxford (Cowley) and Banbury, and our learners test at Cowley. That single fact shapes everything about how we teach here, and we would rather explain it than let you find out halfway through a course.
- AWe pick you up in BicesterFrom your home, your work or a nearby spot that suits you, anywhere across OX26 and the villages. No meeting point you have to get yourself to, unless you would rather use one.
- BOr you meet us in OxfordPlenty of Bicester learners commute in anyway, and meeting in Oxford means the whole lesson is driving rather than travelling. Oxford city centre is the usual spot. Entirely your choice.
- CLessons are two hours, not oneThis is a rule rather than an upsell. With eleven miles between Bicester and Oxford, a one hour lesson would be mostly journey. Two hours means you get a proper session out of it.
- DMost of the driving happens in OxfordBecause that is where the test routes are. Bicester's own roads are useful early on, and we use them, but nobody passes a test on roads the examiner will never take them down.
What you get out of the arrangement
It sounds like a compromise. In practice Bicester learners often end up better prepared than people who live in Oxford, because every lesson deliberately targets the test area instead of wandering around the streets nearest home.
- Real time on the roads around the Oxford (Cowley) test centre, from early on
- Dual carriageway practice on the A34 and the M40 junction 9 approach, built into the journey
- Bicester's own roundabouts and new estates for the early control work
- Every manoeuvre practised on real residential streets, not an empty car park
- Two hour sessions, which suit intensive courses and target test dates better than hourly lessons

Roads and Places You Will Know
These are the parts of Bicester we use most in the early lessons, and the route we take down to the test area.
Sheep Street and the town centre
Bicester · OX26Narrow, busy with pedestrians and full of vehicles stopping where you did not expect. Good for observation, forward planning and low speed control once the basics are there.
Queen's Avenue, London Road and Buckingham Road
Bicester · OX26The through roads, with a run of roundabouts and steady traffic. Bicester has plenty of roundabouts, which makes it a genuinely useful place to drill approach, lane choice and observation.
Kingsmere, Bure Park and Langford Village
Bicester · OX26The newer estates. Wide, modern roads with gentle junctions, which is exactly what a complete beginner needs for the first few hours before anything busier.
Bicester Village and the A41
South of the town · OX26Queues, coaches, car park entrances and drivers who do not know where they are going. Unpleasant to sit in and very good practice at patience and lane discipline.
M40 junction 9 and the A34
South of BicesterThe route down to Oxford, and a genuine dual carriageway. Merging, slip roads and lane discipline at speed, built into the journey rather than bolted on before the test.
Oxford (Cowley) test centre
James Wolfe Road · OX4 2PYWhere your practical test starts and finishes, off Horspath Driftway. This is where most of your practice happens, and by test day the roads around it should feel ordinary.
Lessons Built Around You
Whatever stage you are at, there is a sensible way in.
Automatic lessons
Our usual recommendation here. Without gears to manage you can put your attention on the roundabouts, the A34 merge and the Oxford traffic, which is where a Bicester learner's lesson time actually goes.
Manual lessons
Pass in a manual and you can drive either type of car, at the same price. We build the clutch work on the quieter estates before taking it into town or onto the dual carriageway.
Intensive courses
These suit Bicester particularly well. Two hour sessions several times a week mean less travel per hour of driving, and a target test date to work towards.
Student and NHS discounts
Discounted rates for students and for NHS staff on production of valid ID, with early and late slots for shift work.
Refresher lessons
Common in a town growing as fast as Bicester. Plenty of people move here, find they now need to drive, and want a few hours to get their confidence back.
Pass Plus after you pass
Structured practice in motorway, dual carriageway and night driving once you have your licence. Worth it here, with the M40 on the doorstep, and it can reduce some insurance premiums.
