The rates above show both. Which one suits you depends less on the maths and more on how certain you are that you want to get this done.

Payment and booking We accept cash and bank transfer. If you are paying by bank transfer, please make sure it clears at least 24 hours before your lesson, except for your very first one. Cash on the day is fine. Prices can change over time, but a block you have already booked and paid for is held at the price you paid, for the whole of that block.

A discounted rate on production of valid NHS ID, with early and late slots for shift work and pick up from the John Radcliffe, the Churchill or wherever your shift ends.

Students

The same discounted rate with valid student ID, and scheduling that works around lectures, deadlines and term dates.

A one time introductory offer for your first lesson, so you can find out whether you get on with your instructor before committing to a block.

The standard lesson is two hours; one hour sessions are available on the introductory offer and longer sessions can be arranged for intensive course students. Driving Lesson Prices: Your Questions Answered

Are these the final prices, or are there hidden fees?

These are the final lesson prices. The extra costs are your DVSA theory test fee and your DVSA practical test fee, which you pay directly to the government when you book each test. Some outer postcodes may carry a small travel charge, and if that applies to you we will tell you before you book.

Do I have to pay for the whole block upfront?

Prepaid blocks are paid upfront, which is how we are able to offer a lower rate per hour. If you would rather not commit, you can book individual two hour sessions at the standard rate and move onto a block whenever you are ready.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?

If you have not started your block yet, we can usually refund the unused portion subject to a small admin fee. Once you have started your lessons, we refund the remaining unused hours at the higher pay as you go rate. Full details are in our terms and conditions.

How long is each lesson?

The standard lesson is two hours, which most learners find is enough time to cover a new skill properly without losing focus. One hour lessons are available for beginners on the introductory offer, and longer sessions of three or four hours can be arranged for intensive course students.

How many hours will I need to pass?

It varies a lot from learner to learner. The DVSA suggests most people need around 45 hours of professional lessons plus around 22 hours of private practice, and plenty of our learners pass with fewer. After your first couple of lessons your instructor will give you an honest estimate based on how you are actually getting on.

Do you teach automatic as well as manual?

Yes. The prices on this page apply to both manual and automatic lessons. If you are not sure which to choose, start with a first lesson and your instructor will help you decide based on how you find the controls.

Can I switch instructors if we are not a good fit?

Yes. Learning to drive is much easier when you feel comfortable with your instructor, so if something is not clicking just let us know and we will arrange a switch. No awkward conversation needed.

Do I need to have passed my theory test before starting lessons?

No. You can start practical lessons as soon as you have your provisional licence. Most learners book their theory test partway through their lessons, once they have built up some experience on the road.

What happens if I need to cancel a lesson?

We ask for at least 48 hours notice for cancellations. Lessons cancelled with less notice may be charged, because your instructor has already blocked that time out and cannot fill it. We do try to be flexible for genuine emergencies.
