What Is Included in Every Lesson
Whichever rate applies to you, these four things do not change. They are the reason the price is what it is.
- AA fully qualified instructorDVSA approved and fully qualified, never a trainee. Worth asking any driving school you call, because not everybody can say it.
- BA dual controlled, modern carA second set of pedals on your instructor's side, so nothing can go badly wrong while you are learning something new.
- CProgress tracked every lessonYou finish each lesson knowing what improved and what is next, rather than guessing how close you are to test standard.
- DPick up and drop offFrom home, work or college, anywhere in our Oxford coverage area. No meeting point, and no lesson time spent travelling to one.
What is not included
Short list, and we would rather you saw it here than found it later.
- Your DVSA theory test fee, paid directly to the government
- Your DVSA practical test fee, also paid directly to the government
- A small travel charge for some postcodes outside our core Oxford area
- If a travel charge applies to you, we tell you before you book, not after
- There is no joining fee and no charge for booking online
Pay As You Go, or Prepaid Block
The rates above show both. Which one suits you depends less on the maths and more on how certain you are that you want to get this done.
Pay as you go
One lesson at a time- Book two hour sessions individually at the standard rate
- No commitment beyond the lesson you have booked
- Easy to pause if work, money or life gets in the way
- Move onto a block whenever you are ready
- Works out more per hour than a prepaid block
Prepaid block
Better rate, paid upfront- A lower rate per hour, which is the whole point of a block
- The price you book at is honoured for the full block
- No surprise increase partway through your course
- Book the next block only when you are ready for it
- Paid in advance, and unused hours on a started block are refunded at the pay as you go rate
Rates That May Apply to You
Several people who pay the standard rate did not need to. The figures for each of these are in the table above.
NHS staff
A discounted rate on production of valid NHS ID, with early and late slots for shift work and pick up from the John Radcliffe, the Churchill or wherever your shift ends.
Students
The same discounted rate with valid student ID, and scheduling that works around lectures, deadlines and term dates.
New learners
A one time introductory offer for your first lesson, so you can find out whether you get on with your instructor before committing to a block.
Intensive courses
Twenty, thirty or forty five hours built around a target test date. The same hourly value as a block, arranged over weeks instead of months.
Lessons outside Oxford
Wheatley, Abingdon and Bicester are charged at our out of area rate. Some other outer postcodes carry a small travel charge, and we will tell you before you book.
Pass Plus
A separate course taken after you pass, covering motorway, dual carriageway and night driving. It can reduce some insurance premiums.
Areas We Cover
Our standard Oxford rate applies across the city. Beyond it, the out of area rate applies, and we say so before you book rather than adding it afterwards.
East Oxford
OX3 and OX4Cowley, Headington, Iffley and Rose Hill. Standard rate, and the Oxford test centre is in this half of the city.
Kidlington
OX5Just north of the ring road. Standard rate, with lessons building down into Oxford as you progress.
Outside Oxford
Wheatley, Abingdon, BicesterCovered at the out of area rate shown in the table above. Some other outer postcodes carry a small travel charge instead.
