Why students choose us
Driving lessons around lectures and deadlines
Built Around Term Time, Not Against It
Timetables that change each term, coursework weeks where nothing else fits, and long vacations that are perfect for an intensive block. We have been teaching learners across Oxford since 2018 and a good share of them have been students.
A
Lessons after lectures
Slots run from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm on Saturdays, so an evening lesson after a full teaching day is straightforward.
B
Intensive courses over the vacation
A block of 20, 30 or 45 hours condensed into the Christmas, Easter or summer vacation is the fastest realistic route to a licence.
C
Pick up from halls or your house share
Headington, Cowley, Marston, Iffley, Jericho, Summertown and Botley are all covered, along with the Brookes Headington campus.
D
Patient with first time drivers
Plenty of students have never been behind the wheel. Lessons start on quiet residential streets and build up only when the basics are solid.

Headington Road · OX3 0BP
Brookes Headington Campus
The Gipsy Lane and Headington Hill sites sit right on the Headington roundabout system and London Road, two of the most useful areas in Oxford to learn on.
Marston Road · OX3 0FL
Brookes Marston Road site
Quieter approach roads for early lessons, with Marston, Headington and the Eastern Bypass all close by as you build up.
City centre
University of Oxford colleges
Central Oxford is busy and restricted, so lessons usually start a short walk out towards Jericho or Iffley Road where it is safe to pull up.
OX4
Cowley and East Oxford
A lot of student houses sit around Cowley Road and Iffley Road. Good traffic practice from the very first lesson, and near the test centre.
OX3
Headington and Marston halls
Straight onto the roads examiners use. Convenient if you are at Brookes and want lessons that start the moment you finish for the day.
OX2
Summertown, Botley and North Oxford
Wide residential streets for the early hours of car control, then the Banbury Road and the ring road as your confidence grows.
Areas we cover around Oxford. Our instructors teach across Headington, Cowley, Iffley, Jericho, Summertown, Botley, Marston, Littlemore and Blackbird Leys. Kidlington, Wolvercote, Cumnor and the OX2 9 side of Botley are covered at our out of area rate, where the student rate does not apply.

Lesson Options for Oxford Students
Whichever route you take, the student discount applies once your ID has been seen.

No gears and no clutch, so more of your attention goes on the road and the traffic. The most popular choice with students, and usually fewer hours to test standard.
🚗
Manual lessons
A full licence so you can drive any car once you pass, taught by a fully qualified manual instructor at a pace that suits you.
⚡
Intensive courses
A structured block of 20, 30 or 45 hours condensed into a vacation. The quickest realistic route to a licence, but book early because these weeks fill up.
🎓
Student and NHS discounts
Fair pricing with dedicated discounts for students and NHS staff, on production of a valid ID card.
🔄
Refresher lessons
Passed a while ago but have not driven since, or new to Oxford and finding the ring road and roundabouts daunting. Rebuild confidence at your own pace.
🎖
Pass Plus after you pass
Extra training in motorway driving, night driving and poor weather, which some insurers recognise with a discount. Useful when you are a young driver.

Student Driving Lessons: Your Questions Answered
What discount do students get on driving lessons in Oxford?
Students can book ten hours prepaid for £400, on every ten hour block. Other lessons and courses are at our standard Oxford prices: £85 for two hours, £820 for twenty hours, £1,200 for thirty hours and £1,750 for forty five hours. New learners can start with a £40 first hour or an £80 two hour first lesson. The discount applies once you have shown a valid student ID card. The DVSA practical test fee is separate.
What proof do I need to get the student discount?
A valid student ID card, shown once at your first lesson. Nothing needs to be sent in advance, and we do not keep a copy.
Do I need a provisional licence before my first lesson?
Yes. You must hold a valid UK provisional driving licence before you can take a lesson on the road. If you do not have one, apply at gov.uk and allow time for it to arrive before booking.
Do I have to pass the theory test first?
Not before you start lessons, but you must pass the theory test before you can book your practical test. Most students work on theory alongside their early lessons. You can book it at gov.uk/book-theory-test.
Can I fit lessons around lectures and coursework?
Yes. Lessons run Monday to Friday from 7am to 9pm and Saturdays from 9am to 6pm, so evening slots after a full teaching day are straightforward. Many students book lesson by lesson rather than committing to the same time every week.
Can I do an intensive course over the vacation?
Yes, and it is the most popular route with students. An intensive driving course of 20, 30 or 45 hours can be condensed into the Christmas, Easter or summer vacation. Book as far ahead as you can, because intensive weeks fill up early.
Can you pick me up from the Brookes Headington campus?
Yes. Your instructor can meet you at a safe and legal spot near the Headington campus on Headington Road, or the Marston Road site. Central Oxford is restricted, so if you are at a city centre college we usually start a short walk out towards Jericho or Iffley Road.
Should I learn automatic or manual?
Most students choose automatic driving lessons, which usually means fewer hours to reach test standard. A manual licence lets you drive any car once you pass. We teach both, so your instructor can talk it through at the first lesson.
How many driving lessons will I need?
The DVSA suggests around 45 hours of professional tuition plus private practice for the average learner, though this varies a great deal. Automatic learners often need fewer. After your first lesson your instructor will give you a realistic estimate rather than a sales figure.
Where will my driving test be?
At the Oxford (Cowley) test centre on James Wolfe Road. Your lessons build up to the roads examiners use around Cowley, Headington and the Oxford ring road, so the routes will already be familiar.
Do you book my driving test for me?
No. We no longer book DVSA practical tests on behalf of learners. You book your own test at gov.uk/book-driving-test, and your instructor will advise on timing and readiness.
What if I need to cancel a lesson?
We ask for 48 hours notice, and short notice cancellations may be charged. If a deadline or a resit lands on you, tell your instructor as soon as you know and we will do our best to move the lesson rather than lose it.
